Shuave Jackson

Shuave Jackson

Shuave Jackson grew up in Queensbridge Houses, the largest public housing development in the nation.  At the age of four, Shuave lost her mother to cancer.  We got to know Shuave when she signed up for our College Access Program, where she worked hard to get her SAT scores up and secure financial aid.

Shauve says that Urban Upbound “builds that important foundation…you become so motivated, you want to do it on your own.” After participating in our program, Shuave increased her SAT by 200 points and was accepted into SUNY Oswego.  The first in her family to go to college, Shuave is now a senior pursuing her mother’s dream of becoming a teacher.  Shuave continues to say that “You learn so much (in the College Access Program) that before you know it, you are taking the steps to help someone else.”
